Telluride Sees Increase in Air Service for 2015/16 Winter Season
Now offering 14 direct flights from 11 major hubs for improved access nationwide
TELLURIDE, Colorado (September 2, 2015) – This week, Colorado Flights announced the official schedule for air service coming in and out of Telluride/Montrose (MTJ) airport for the 2015-16 winter season. The region has new direct flights from New York-LaGuardia (LGA), Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago (ORD) and Las Vegas (LAS), in addition to service increases from Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) and Phoenix (PHX). In total, the region will now have 14 direct flights from 11 major hubs.
“One of the best characteristics of our town is that it is secluded in nature and those special places are harder to get to,” said Greg Pack, president and general manager of Telluride Ski Resort. “This additional air service coming into the Telluride/Montrose airport helps address some of those obstacles, and we’re excited to provide our guests expanded access this winter.”
Carriers coming into the Telluride/Montrose airport will include American, Delta, United and Allegiant, giving visitors more options when making their travel plans. New flight service plans for the carriers will include:
- American Airlines – The newly merged airline will add 50% more service from Dallas-Ft. Worth, more than doubling the total DFW service in the past two seasons, as well as add more flights from Phoenix. New routes from Chicago and Los Angeles will also be added to the schedule.
- United – Colorado’s primary carrier will continue to expand its network of flights, adding a weekend flight from New York-LaGuardia as well as weekend flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco, daily service from Houston and Chicago and multiple daily flights from Denver.
- Allegiant – The low-cost carrier will fly direct from Las Vegas twice a week throughout the season, as well as twice a week from Los Angeles.
- Delta – In the second half of the season, Delta will add Wednesday to its existing schedule from Atlanta (ATL).
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the significant additions to our air service, giving Telluride/Montrose some of the best access in ski country,” said Matt Skinner, chief operating officer of Colorado Flights. “Guests and residents alike now have multiple, varied options to travel non-stop to and from major hubs across the country, easily connecting the whole of North America and the world.”
“This year the expansion of the air program offers guests across the country increased direct flight options to Telluride/Montrose,” said Matt Windt, vice president of sales & marketing at Telluride Ski Resort. “I’m really encouraged by the new direct service on United Airlines from New York-LaGuardia. This winter, guests in the Tri-State area can experience Telluride via our new Saturday flight, weekly, from LaGuardia, or on our direct flight from Newark. New York is an important market for us and this new service helps improve guests’ access to this amazing resort.”
