The Alpino Vino Tomato Gorgonzola Soup is full, rich, warm and a little spicy with chunks of roasted tomatoes and melty bits of gorgonzola cheese. It’s the perfect warmer with some crunchy bread to dip or, even better, our world-class gourmet grilled cheese sandwich.
If you’re looking to pair this with wine, drink where you eat! This Italian-style soup is fresh enough and light enough to work well with a clean, crisp, dry Northern Italian Pinot Grigio. If you prefer a red, an easy Chianti Classico or Valpolicella will work well with the smoky, cheesy element to this soup. Avoid anything with too much alcohol and/or too much oak. These kinds of wines, like California Cabs and Chardonnays or Aussie Shiraz, will dominate the flavors in the soup and the heat in the soup will exaggerate the taste of alcohol in the wine - something your tastebuds won’t enjoy.
