We opened for the season last Friday and the Mountain Operations and Patrol teams have been working very quickly to get more terrain open over the past week. With over 50" of snow on the season, the mountain is in a good place to continue terrain expansions over the coming weeks leading up to the holidays. The Telluride Terrain Park Crew opened the Lower Hoot Brown Terrain Park on Wednesday, offering intermediate jumps, rails, and other features for park skiers and riders.
This Saturday, December 10th, we will open Polar Queen Express (Lift 5) with access to limited trails from the top including Stormin' Norman, Ophir Loop and more. This opening allows skiers to both ski terrain off of Lift 5 while also allowing access to Apex Lift (Lift 6) which will also open this weekend. These two openings will complete the 4-5-6 Loop with the opening of See Forever as a run to return to Mountain Village or the Gondola.
In addition, The Meadows will open for the season giving beginners access to a significant amount of expanded terrain for skiing from the top of Mountain Village Express (Lift 4) to the bottom of the Chondola (Lift 1) via Village Bypass and The Meadows.
With snow in the forecast and the holidays approaching, the Mountain Operations and Patrol teams will conclude efforts to open this weekend's terrain at which point they will shift their focus to the front side of the mountain for ski-to-town access as well as the Sunshine Express (Lift 10) area.
