Telluride’s 5 Best Après Ski Drinks

After a day of cruising groomers at the resort or hiking to some powder, nothing goes down more smoothly than a cold beer or refreshing cocktail. A good après scene is essential in any true mountain town, and Telluride really knows how to get it done. From time-honored local favorites to well-known seasonal specials, here are Telluride’s 5 best après ski drinks.

Bloody Mary’s at Tomboy Tavern
Don’t let the thought of a Bloody Mary being no more than a breakfast drink fool you. At Tomboy Tavern , the Bear Trap Bloody Mary reigns supreme, expertly crafted and topped with everything but the kitchen sink. If you’re staying in Mountain Village or taking the gondola home, don’t be afraid to have more than one.
Old Fashioned at Allred’s
Allred’s has hands down some of the best views of the Town of Telluride. The alpenglow during sunset is reason enough to take the Gondola to Allred’s, but pairing it with an old fashioned takes it to another level. Pair the view and cocktail with a side of truffle fries or edamame and it will be an après to remember.
Sweetwater and TBC Tasting at Gorrono Ranch
Conveniently located on Misty Maiden, a popular last run of the day, Gorrono Ranch is where it’s at when your legs are shot. Whether you go for the sunbathing or the volleyball, whatever you do, don’t leave before sampling some locally crafted beer. Every Sunday during the winter season, Gorrono Ranch invites skiers to get down with live music and a free tasting featuring Sweetwater and Telluride Brewing Company.
Flatliner at the Sheridan
The Sheridan is many things – an upscale chop house, a charming parlor, and a classic “old” bar with unbeatable character. Lined up perfectly in a row, these three spots offer varied atmospheres, but similar expectations. The aptly named “flatliner” is a signature cocktail of Telluride, a staple at the Sheridan, and a dead giveaway that your night’s about to get rowdy.
Just about Anything at the Buck
The sign out front reads “ Last Dollar Saloon ”, but don’t be fooled – this bar is The Buck, and it’s seen just about every local and most visitors who have ever walked the streets of Telluride. A dive bar, a gathering place, an establishment where everyone knows your name – the Buck is a legend, the drinks are free-flowing, and the night is always young.
