Telluride, Colo. (February 6, 2018) – Telluride Ski Resort welcomes Alexandra Sharpe-Keene, new Spa Director at The Peaks Resort & Spa, with the goal to further push the innovative boundaries of the spa and wellness resort experience.
Alex comes to Telluride with an arsenal of experience and accolades, including her transformative roles as Spa Director at Topnotch Resort and Spa in Vermont for 16 years and (most recently) as Spa Director at The Calistoga Ranch—an Auberge Spa—in California. Her leadership and sharp management acumen led Topnotch to a series of top awards from Condé Nast Traveler, Stowe Reporter, Stowe Reporter Burlington Free Press and Spa Finder. As the goal-driven strategic director at Calistoga Ranch, she helped create innovative practices that streamlined efficiencies for the spa team and its line of products, adhering to the resort’s reputation as a top destination resort that was ranked number five in the US by Condé Nast Traveler.
“We are very excited to add Alex to our team, she’s a consummate spa professional and has led some of the top spa operations in the country’ said Rudy Sharp, VP of Hospitality at Telluride Ski Resort. “In joining The Peaks, Alex will be focused on continuing the evolution of our service and guest experience as well as our wellness initiatives and integrating health and wellness into our resort-wide operations and offerings.”
As Colorado’s largest spa, The Spa at the Peaks boasts a 42,000-square-foot facility complete with 30 treatment rooms, indoor/outdoor pools, full gym and yoga studios, steam rooms, saunas, and hot tubs. Housed at Telluride’s largest hotel, The Peaks Resort & Spa, the facility also offers extensive exercise and yoga classes, wedding and bridal packages, along with holistic skincare treatments and full-service salon.
The Spa’s recent partnerships with Naturopathica and SkinCeuticals, along with its newly redesigned menu focused on spirituality and mindfulness, has developed groundbreaking treatments that is reinventing the spa experience at Telluride. Alex hopes to continue The Spa’s position as an innovator and leader of the resort spa and wellness experience.
“I'm thrilled to be joining a team who have already created a quality spa experience,” Alex said. “In Telluride, we have an ideal location and community at our fingertips, to develop The Spa at The Peaks into a premier destination for wellbeing no matter what your age and stage of life.”
An avid outdoor lover, Alex enjoys runs and walks with Barnaby, her little Boston Terrier, and looks forward to exploring Telluride’s infamous blue trails now that she’s back on her skis after recovering from a broken leg. While she won’t be ice (or rock) climbing with her husband anytime soon, they plan to conquer some of San Juans’ 14ers this summer.
“We just love the beauty of Telluride,” Alex said. “My husband has been to Telluride often, for snowboarding contests and for ice and rock climbing, and he’s excited to get there once he is back from the Winter Olympics. We are so looking forward to enjoying the town and being part of the community.”
