Gold Season in Telluride

Tips to Experiencing our Gold Season in Style

It’s already starting to feel like fall here in Telluride. Crisp mornings are making us think of warm cider, fleece jackets and one of the best times of year here in town. Gold season is a favorite among locals. Even though we’re saying farewell to the long, lazy days of summer, the scenery is always a stunner and we know snow is right around the corner.

If you’re coming to Telluride this fall, here are some tips to experiencing our Gold Season in style:

Take a Hike

The best way to see the brilliant leaves synonymous with autumn in Colorado is to go for a hike. Our favorite trails include the Jud Wiebe, Bear Creek Falls and Bridal Veil Falls and Basin, or book a guided backcountry hiking tour.

Drinks with a View

There’s no better way to recover from a hike than with a cocktail at Allred’s. Located at the top of San Sophia Station, the bar serves up a fantastic wine selection and mixed cocktails such as the Maple Old Fashioned. Look down on the town of Telluride and the San Sophia range and reminisce about your day in nature.

Sunday Drive

Head up Highway 145 south toward Lizard Head Pass or north toward Dallas Divide and take in some of the most beautiful views in the country.

Adventure on the High Roads

Looking for a bit more of an adrenaline rush? Book a 4x4 Jeep Tour with the Telluride Adventure Center and head up and over Imogene Pass. Explore the old mining town of Tomboy and experience expansive views over the town of Telluride.
