1. 4x4 and ATV Tours

Augmented with relics from historic mining claims, Telluride is covered in a network of 4x4 trails providing access to beautiful mountain vistas, alpine lakes, ghost towns and the remains of the mining era. Two of Telluride’s more popular 4x4 routes provide family friendly adventures over Imogene Pass and Ophir Pass. For more extreme off-road adventures, Black Bear Pass takes you from the summit of Red Mountain Pass and descends down breathtaking switchbacks featuring exposed traverses that locals call the “Stair Steps.” Guided tours provide a safe and comfortable means to off-road while learning about the historic and geographic nature of the area. 2. Mountain Biking


Telluride is surrounded by an extensive network of single track trails and old mining roads which are perfect for all levels of rider, from beginners to experts. Push your limits on one of Telluride’s classic single tracks or take a scenic ride on Telluride’s valley floor alongside the San Miguel River to Telluride Distillery or Telluride Brewing Company in Lawson Hill. As mountain biking experts flock to Telluride, it’s the perfect place to rent a bike and explore on your own or join an experienced guide on a personal tour catered to your skill level and interests. If you’re in need of gear, the Adventure Center has everything you’ll need to be safely and comfortably outfit for your day on the trails. 3. Fly Fishing

Telluride’s network of rivers provide some of the best trout fishing in the Rocky Mountains. Near Telluride, the San Miguel, Dolores, Uncompahgre and Gunnison rivers over unique fly fishing opportunities with absolutely stunning views of the surrounding peaks and canyons. In addition, the area plays host to a large network of lakes, ponds, and alpine creeks to give you even more variety. Whether looking for a half or full day of active wading and walking or a more soothing full day float, the Adventure Center has you covered with gear, guides, and local insight.


4. Horseback Riding


Some of the best views of the Colorado mountains are from atop a horse. You’re likely to encounter wildlife like Rocky Mountain Elk and Mule Deer as you ride through Telluride’s San Juan Mountains on horseback . Out in the wilderness, you’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful nature you will ever see, soaring peaks, flowing streams, roaring waterfalls, and blooming wildflowers. 5. Paddleboarding, Rafting, or Tubing

Perfect for families, groups, individuals, and kids, our guides will show you how to read current, ride eddies, balance on waves, or skim across a glassy lake. If you’re looking for more adventure, take a ride on the whitewater during a half or full day rafting excursion on one of many II-III+ class routes. A simpler day on the water for families and kids of all ages, rent a tube and float down the slow moving San Miguel River to cool off on a hot summer day.


6. Via Ferrata or Rock Climbing

The Rocky Mountains, especially in the southwest, are prime rock climbing territory and Telluride is no exception. The iconic Via Ferrata is a challenging favorite climbing spot for locals and visitors. Located at the end of the Box Canyon, the Via Ferrata offers views of the town of Telluride and Bridal Veil Falls from high above on the cliff walls. If heights are manageable for you, continue your love for climbing on one of the many high-altitude granite and sandstone guided climbs offered by the Adventure Center or climb some bouldering routes on Adventure Rock in Mountain Village.

7. Gravity Play

Throughout the summer, the Telluride Adventure Center has high alpine fun for the young and the young at heart. Gravity Play, including a competitive Ropes Course, Water Walkers (Zorbing of sorts) and high-flying Bungee Trampolines, can provide a full day of fun, and you get a discount if you do all three! 8. Photography, Hiking, or Mountaineering


Escaping to the mountains of Telluride puts you in the most photogenic location in the country.
