Join Mountain Trip’s highly-trained staff for a day of ice climbing around Telluride or Ouray. Ice climbing is a perfect outing for adventurous visitors looking to mix up their ski vacation as well as for climbers looking to expand their skill set. Mountain Trip is the only guide service in southwestern Colorado that is accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), the premier credentialing organization in the US. AMGA Accreditation is a recognition of a company’s high standards in risk management, guide training and company procedures. We are the only Telluride-based guide service permitted to guide in the Ouray Ice Park.
Mountain Trip will provide all the necessary technical climbing equipment, unless you would prefer to use your own. Our equipment is top-of-the-line and features the most advanced technology available.
Considerations: Ice climbing trips are great for individuals and families of all ages. We have taken children as young as four years old and adults as old as 75. Clients do not need previous climbing experience, but if they have climbed in the past, please let us know as a wider variety of venues may be accessible to them. All climbers will need to provide shoe sizes upon booking.
Trip fee INCLUDES: Guiding and instruction, group climbing equipment (ropes, ice screws, etc), harness, helmet, ice tools, crampons and ice boots. Hot drinks are provided for all trips and lunch is available upon request for an additional cost ($20 per person, from Pandora Catering). Gloves, gaiters and day packs are also available upon request. Shuttle to our office from the Telluride/Mountain Village area is also included upon request.
DOES NOT INCLUDE: Transportation to and from Ouray ($100 per trip), personal clothing--wear what you would for skiing on-area on a cold day. (ie: heavy, dextourous gloves, puffy jacket, base layers, waterproof pants and shell, etc.)
Timing: Half-day climbs take approximately 4 hours and full day trips about 8 hours+, if driving to/from Ouray. Maximum group size: 12 climbers with the potential for 2-3 hour rotation.
