Allred’s Named one of America’s Best Wine Restaurants
Wine Enthusiast Magazine lists America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants for 2015
TELLURIDE, Colorado (July 2, 2015) – Wine Enthusiast Magazine recently included Allred’s on its annual list of the “100 Best Wine Restaurants in America” for 2015. This is a first time Allred’s has received this honor from Wine Enthusiast, which looks at restaurants with “stellar cuisine as a given” and focuses on those with innovative and unique wine programs.
The annual list is currently being featured in Wine Enthusiast’s August issue with Allred’s included in the Central Region, a class that comprises 20 other states and only 13 other restaurants. Opened in 2000, Allred’s is Telluride Ski & Golf’s flagship restaurant, with a wine program that boasts a 1,000 bottle wine list hand selected by the resort’s Wine Director, Andrew Shaffner.
“We’re thrilled to receive this honor of being named to the list of the Top 100 Wine Restaurants in America,” said Andrew Shaffner, Wine Director at Telluride Ski and Golf. “The staff here at Allred’s works so hard to provide an amazing dining experience for our guests, and the wine program we’ve created really enhances that.”
Shaffner was named Telluride Ski & Golf’s first Wine Director in the winter of 2014 after serving as a sommelier at Allred’s and spending five years as the general manager of Alpino Vino during the ski season. Since becoming the Wine Director, Shaffner has developed a new blended red wine appropriately named “Telluride Red”, which is available exclusively at the resort, and leads the wine program at all of Telluride Ski & Golf’s on-site restaurants.
The extensive wine selection pairs perfectly with a menu created by Executive Chef Mike Regrut. Regrut’s concept of ‘comfort American food with classical French influences’ has made Allred’s a destination dining experience in Telluride. The kitchen team and Chef Regrut focus daily on designing dishes that pair perfectly with a variety of wines and also meet the culinary expectations of guests.
