Activities for a Memorable Holiday Weekend

With Opening Day delayed, Telluride Ski Resort has put together a handful of great activities for any and all in town over the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend. The Thanksgiving Snow Jam will feature great activities planned from Thursday, November 24th through Sunday, November 27th to create a memorable holiday weekend. Take a look at the great options over the Thanksgiving Holiday:

Snow Play Area

With recent snowfall and low temperatures allowing for snowmaking on the mountain, we’re excited to offer an area for all to enjoy the snow. Sleds will be provided for your enjoyment. Please be advised, there will be no skiing or riding allowed in the area. For a complimentary activity ticket to access the Play Area, please be sure to stop into the Mountain Village Ticket Office. Season pass holders can use their respective passes.

The Telluride Terrain Parks crew will have several small features for skiers and boarders to enjoy. Test your stuff on the newest park features that will later be installed throughout the Resort’s three terrain parks this season. For a complimentary activity ticket to access the Play Area, please be sure to stop into the Mountain Village Ticket Office. Season pass holders can use their respective passes.

Get your shot at being on the Telluride Mountain Operations or Terrain Park crews and pose for a photo inside our newest addition to our snowcat fleet. Explore the functionality and grandeur of the mountain’s most imperative and strongest tools over the holiday weekend.

Saturday Avalanche Dog Demonstration

Saturday, from 11 am to 12 pm, Telluride Ski Patrol and their famous avalanche dogs will be joining us at the Thanksgiving Snow Jam. See how the avy dogs, including Mona and Bea, are put to work after an avalanche occurs during a simulation at the base of Mountain Village Express (Lift 4).

Ice Skating at The Madeline

A holiday and mountain town tradition, ice skating is a perfect activity for the whole family. Head to the Mountain Village Ice Rink near Starbucks and adjacent to The Madeline Hotel and Suites for a night of skating on the beautifully lit outdoor rink. Skates are available for rent at the rink upon arrival along with a nominal fee to access the rink.

There’s always time to head to the movies and Thanksgiving is no exception. Screening A Christmas Story on Friday and Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Saturday, be sure to join us for a complimentary movie at 4 pm on either or both days over the Holiday Weekend. The cash bar will be open serving beverages for all ages and some movie treats as well.

Designed to connect kids with their environment and garner an appreciation for the world around them, Eco Adventures provides full and half-day programming for kids 5 to 12 years old. Over the Thanksgiving Holiday, full-day programs run from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and will include lunch while the Kids’ Happy Hour will run from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Activities include an array of exciting adventures from Winter Wilderness Survival to Human vs. Wildlife Olympics, from candle and soap making to balloon drag races. The opportunities are endless and your kids won’t stop talking about their daily exploits with Telluride Eco Adventures.

The Telluride Adventure Center is your one-stop-shop for all things adventure-oriented in Telluride. From snowmobiling to winter fly fishing, from bungee trampolines to ice climbing, the Adventure Center can connect you with outfitters around the area to get you out and exploring throughout the winter and beyond.

The free gondola is open for its 20th Anniversary Season making for an additional source of fun for the weekend and a great way to experience the unforgettable views of the surrounding peaks.
