Small town, big thrills await skiers in Telluride

By The Chicago Tribune

There’s no doubt that Telluride is a small town that packs a punch when it comes to all things destination travel. Whether visiting for the delectable food, the incredible boutique hotels and vacation rentals, the skiing, or the scenery, there is no doubt that Telluride will satisfy your dreams. With direct flights to Montrose-Telluride (MTJ) from nine major hubs around the US, including Chicago (ORD), and new year-round service to Telluride (TEX) from Denver (DEN), there are many great ways to access Telluride and our world-famous slopes. Be sure to plan a winter vacation to Telluride and experience what Randall Weissman of the Chicago Tribune calls “big thrills” in this unforgettable small town.

Home to roughly 2,300 permanent residents, Telluride has all the flavor you'd expect from a town that's been around since the 1870s. A walk along Main Street makes it easy to imagine what it was like at the height of the late 19th century mining boom.
