Home Away From Home for the Holidays

Discover What's Happening in Telluride over the Holidays

It’s time for the holidays in the mountains of Telluride once again. We are excited for everything going on in the Town of Telluride and Mountain Village, kicking off with the Holiday Prelude last Saturday, December 17th. The festivities continue the week of Christmas with the Torchlight Parade on Christmas Eve where at 6:30 pm, you can gather in the Town of Telluride to watch the ski school employees meander down Coonskin and Telluride Trail with blazing red torchlights.

Be sure to make reservations at your favorite restaurants around town and Mountain Village early because they do sell out fast. You can make Christmas reservations easily with our Dining Guide at your favorite places in town, because the best part of Christmas dinner is when you don’t have to clean the kitchen.

A brand new special event is the New Year’s Eve Gorrono Ranch Sleigh Ride Dinner , a tremendous event that the whole family can enjoy. Gathering in Mountain Village at 5pm and 5:30pm, guests will get on an open sleigh that will carry them up the resort to Gorrono Ranch where they will be greeted and welcomed to an unforgettable evening on the mountain. It’s the best place to watch the fireworks and torchlight parade as skiers go right by Gorrono Ranch and the fireworks launch from right above on the ski hill ridge. The dinner is early enough for the whole family to enjoy and will conclude in time for other midnight plans for the adults to enjoy. For more information on this event visit our Events Calendar .

New Year’s Eve in Telluride is a unique and breathtaking experience. Starting with the Torchlight Parade and Fireworks , gather in either The Town of Telluride or Mountain Village Plaza and watch our ski school employees carry torches ablaze with red, followed by fireworks being shot off at the top of the ski area.

For entertainment and activities while you’re counting down to midnight, head to the bars around Town and Mountain Village. Stop in to enjoy one of many bands or DJ’s, champagne toasts, and jubilation throughout the evening and into 2017. Be aware, some bars and restaurants will sell tickets or charge a cover on New Year’s Eve so be sure to plan ahead.

  • The Last Dollar Saloon tickets are on sale for $20 and they will have live music featuring local band, Space Gunner, starting at 9pm. Get your tickets now as they’ll sell out fast. Stop into the bar and purchase your tickets in advance; cash only by asking the bartender.
  • The Sheridan Historic Bar will have a $30 cover charge for their New Year’s festivities, featuring another local band, Trico. You can purchase tickets at the Sheridan Chophouse in advance.
  • O’Bannon’s Irish Pub took over Fly Me to the Moon Saloon in the spring. Joint Point is thrilled to announce a New Year’s Eve celebration at the bar on Saturday December 31st at O'Bannon's. Tickets are $20 and are available at O'Bannons and the Wizard.
  • The Sheridan Opera House is ringing in 2017 with a New Year's Gala featuring Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears. They’ll paint the town red with this Black Tie Affair (Telluride style) on New Year’s Eve! Tickets for this event range from $100 to $250 for a night out on the town.

When the countdown begins you can enjoy local’s tradition and join the crowds on Main Street outside of the Court House to countdown the final minutes of 2016 with the big clock tower.

Be sure to join in on the holiday fun and book your trip to Telluride.
