Telluride is admittedly one of the most beautiful towns in North America. Situated in the southwest corner of Colorado, the remote destination provides a stunning venue whether looking to escape the city, ski our mountains, or enjoy one of our summer festivals . When on the mountain, however, our most stunning views are accessible by every level of skier with access to blue runs from each of the below locations, we’re sure your breath will be taken away by these five views at Telluride Ski Resort:
San Joaquin Couloir
One of Telluride’s most famous backcountry features has been conquered by many professionals over the years, the San Joaquin Couloir can be seen from the top of Apex Lift (Lift 6) summiting amidst stunning peaks and deep valley floors. This jaw-dropping sight is one of the best on the mountain and can be accessed by several chairs and cruising blues. The descent from the overlook can bring joy for all levels of skier with iconic runs like Woozley’s Way (Blue) , See Forever (Blue), Logpile (Black Trees), the world famous Plunge (Black), or even Happy Thought (Double Black).
The site of some of the first mining buildings this side of the box canyon, the view of Alta Lakes from the top of Prospect Express (Lift 12) provides all levels of skier with a little taste of the extensive and incredible history that founded Mountain Village and the town of Telluride. With several mining buildings powered by the first hydroelectric power lines in the United States, the view provides skiers with access to sweeping greens including the longest green run on the mountain, Galloping Goose, roaming blues like Madison, and even expert hike-to terrain like Genevieve and Mountain Quail.
Utah’s La Sal Range
The Western Slope plays host to some of the most stunning and sudden peaks in the Rocky Mountains. After driving east through the drylands of Utah, the first lone range you’ll come upon is the La Sal mountains, rising above and southeast of Moab. Visible from many areas on the mountain, one of the best views is from one of the highest lifts at Telluride Ski Resort, Gold Hill (Lift 14). A sweeping panoramic view gives you just a preview of the stunning drive out to the Utah desert and the La Sals in the distance. Skiers can oggle the views and descend via Woozley's Way (Blue), See Forever (Blue), or drop into Revelation Bowl on the Blue groomed area or any of the bump faces.
Town of Telluride
The stunning yet quaint town of Telluride can be seen perfectly end to end from Lookout on the frontside, accessible from Village Express (Lift 4), Coonskin Lift (Lift 7), San Sophia Station (Free Gondola), or See Forever. A meandering blue run, Lookout provides all levels of skier with a breathtaking view of the Town of Telluride and the surrounding box canyon. Spotting your favorite restaurant or iconic building from Lookout is always a good time, not to mention, tracing the old road up to the mining town that still resides across the canyon.
The most iconic mountain in the state of Colorado can be seen from all around the resort but no view supersedes the view from the top of the Plunge Express. Lift 9 transports skiers and riders over some of the best bump skiing in the state and concludes with a stunning view of the Wilson range, most frequently displayed as the blue mountains on the Coors Light logo. The massive peak and its complimenting 13ers cannot be missed when visiting Telluride and this view provides mountain lovers with a breathtaking view etched into their minds forever.
