The Nature Center is closed for the winter and will reopen in June 2015.
At the St. Sophia Nature Center you'll find information on hiking and biking trails, weather expectations and local ecosystems to help prepare you for your adventures in the area. Interpretive displays include: geology, animal tracks and signs, pelts and skulls, Native American history & water use.
Join our experienced interpreter and learn about life zones, tree identification, geology, birds, wildflowers and local human history. Hikes can be customized to guests’ requests and will range from an easy two-hour stroll to longer treks on more challenging terrain.

Join us on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for a fun, abbreviated program for kids ages 4 and up that focuses on using the outdoors as a “living classroom”. Lessons will include Bug Safari, Bucktooth Builders, Endless Energy, Geocaching & Gold Panning with Telluride mining history.
Located just a short distance from the top of the gondola, the St. Sophia Nature Center is located atop Coonskin Ridge overlooking the town of Telluride.
