Single day camps
Kids Camp is a full day of outdoor exploration. Each day we offer something new and exciting! Activities include: easy to moderate hikes, playing in and around the river, fun games, team-building activities, mushroom hunting, picnic lunches, fun cooking & science experiments, and nature arts & crafts.
We have created a schedule of fun and challenging ecoX adventures and encourage you to sign your child up for one of the existing courses/offerings. On days other than a scheduled program, we will gage the interests and abilities of the kids in the group and tailor activities to their liking. Activities can include: moderate to difficult hikes, team-building games, stand up paddle boarding, tubing down the San Miguel, disc golf and other cool options.
2 hour mini camp
Join us on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for a fun, abbreviated program for kids ages 4 and up that focuses on using the outdoors as a “living classroom”. Lessons will include Bug Safari, Bucktooth Builders, Endless Energy, Geocaching & Gold Panning with Telluride mining history.
Capture the flag
Ages 8-14. Younger children have the opportunity to join in the afternoon games.
We will play our favorite pastime in a special wooded course perfect for strategizing, team-building and healthy competition. Our Capture the Flag experts will referee and help the teams practice good sportsmanship. Each participant will receive a team-colored Eco Adventures bandana to keep as a souvenir. Kids adventure race
Modeled after the hit CBS series, Amazing Race, teams of kids, along with their fearless adult leaders, will collect hints that direct the team to obstacles which everyone must overcome together to advance. Race course and challenges will be located in the towns of Telluride, Mountain Village and within the Ski Area. All participants will receive a t-shirt and an invitation to the celebratory pizza party at Crazy Elk after the race.
Norwood Horses & Ropes Course
This day-trip to the Old Sawmill Ranch in Norwood, teaches kids about Natural Horsemanship, a training and handling technique which is gentler than traditional methods and builds a beneficial relationship between horses and their handlers. In addition to developing leadership skills through riding horses, the group will challenge themselves in a low ropes course built in an amazing natural setting.
Build a float
In addition to our standard Kids Camp on July 2 & 3, we will be offering kids the opportunity to help build our Telluride-themed float for the 4th of July parade. Kids who participate in building the float on either the 2nd or 3rd can join Eco Adventures float team for free in the Telluride parade on Friday, July 4.
Mountain Biking 101
While pedaling on some beginner trails, the group will study appropriate trail etiquette and proper mountain bike technique from bike/body position, shifting, braking, climbing and descending. Our goal is to evolve from wider trails to single track.
2 day camps
Kids get to experience the thrill of rappelling in this safe yet exciting two-day course. Participants will learn about knot-tying, safety techniques and communication skills. Our goal is to progress from rappelling down low angle rock faces to more challenging cliffs within the ski area.
During this two-day course, kids will learn about basic mountaineering techniques and attempt to summit some of the highest peaks within the ski area, including Bald Mountain and Gold Hill. The group will study weather patterns, geology and the Seven Leave No Trace Principles. Summiting is weather-permitting.
Luxury Family TopATen Yurt Campout
Ages 4 & up
For the ultimate camping experience, your group will spend the night in the warming yurt at the top of Chair Ten. Relax and enjoy the mountain air while your chef/guide prepares a gourmet dinner. Enjoy a breakfast cooked to order in our outdoor kitchen before heading back to Mountain Village with memories to last a lifetime.
Statepark camping excursion
This adventure includes two full days of outdoor exploration outside of the ski area and a fun overnight in a Colorado state park-sanctioned camp ground. The group will discuss basic wilderness awareness & Leave No Trace ethics, play cooperative games and discover how animals (including humans) adapt their senses at night. To encourage independence, instructors will help kids be responsible for their own belongings, set up and break down camp and prepare for and clean up after meals.
